Christmas at EPIC Social Care CIC is never just about decorations or festive food, it’s about belonging, expression and shared moments. This year’s Christmas celebration captured everything EPIC stands for, bringing together creativity, movement, teamwork and life skills in a way that felt joyful, meaningful and proudly neurodiverse-led.
The day was a true celebration of our community and the talents of the young adults we support.
Signing, Singing and Being Seen
One of the highlights of the celebration was our sign language singing, where music became something everyone could access, feel and take part in. Ensuring that our non verbal service users felt included and proving that communication doesn’t have to be spoken to be expressive, emotional or shared.
Drumming Together: Rhythm Reaction, Regulation and Joy
Our drumming session delivered by Rhythm Reaction brought energy, laughter and a strong sense of togetherness. Drumming is a firm favourite at EPIC, not just because it’s fun, but because the activity supports emotional regulation, confidence and teamwork.
As the beats built, so did the smiles.
New for This Year: Basketball Buddies 🏀
This year also marked the introduction of Basketball Buddies delivered by Coach Joe, a brand new sport activity that added movement, encouragement and friendly collaboration to the day. The focus wasn’t on competition, but on participation, confidence and supporting one another.
Seeing participants cheer each other on and try something new captured the spirit of EPIC perfectly - stepping outside comfort zones while feeling safe, supported and celebrated. (And a healthy bit of competition aka cheating from one of our service users brought a smile to everyone's faces!)
Life Skills in Action: Cooking for the Celebration
Food played an important role in the day, it is almost Christmas after all! EPIC service users have built a series of recipes over the past few weeks as a part of their life skills learning. Preparing food together offered opportunities to practice planning, teamwork, independence and responsibility.
Sharing a meal that had been prepared by participants themselves added an extra layer of pride and achievement to the celebration, reinforcing that everyday skills are just as valuable as creative ones.
We’re incredibly proud of everyone who took part, and grateful to our staff, supporters and families who continue to champion EPIC’s vision. As we head into the new year, days like this remind us why we do what we do and how powerful it can be when people are given the space to shine in their own way.
